Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is fail. [UPDATE]

Jul 01, 2009 19:01

I was looking forward to trying CoJ2 tonight. Picked it up yesterday evening but didn't get to play.

I put the disc in, and read over the manual. "for exclusive content, register this game at www.ubireg.com." cool.

For background, my tv is calibrated. Brought a calibration kit from work, and a tech from work calibrated it. Colors, brightness, everything is where it should be.

The game starts up and wants to do its own gamma setting...fine, in software nudges are okay, as they're only in software. Nope. No setting, either in TV or Monitor settings were correct. I had to change my tv's actual settings for this one piece of software. HUGE strike 1.

I go to the registration site, to register the game to get my exclusive content. The problem is, the only version you can register currently is the PC version. Strike 2.

I go to their "contact us" section. and select where it says "webmaster - select this option for problems with this site" ... Login .... "we're sorry. The site has an unknown error. Try again later. Strike 3.

The back of the case and the website mentions co-op mode. The instruction manual inside the game case clarifies. They've re-defined co-op to mean "single player, but an npc will help you out sometimes". Strike...4?

This is all before even starting a game. That'll be my last ubisoft game for a while.

Disc eject. Back in case. Put at the bottom of the stack. Maybe I'll use it as a coaster.

Now I need to have my tv calibrated again.

Don't bother getting the game if you like your tv to be calibrated correctly or actually want to be able to get your exclusive content, or if you actually wanted to play a co-op game with a friend.

[UPDATE]
Ubisoft's response to my list of problems was that these are all game hint questions, and that I should check gamefaqs or ign.
