For those of you keeping track, I don't have a television. So when I'm watching a show in "present time" it's usually a few hours (sometimes a day) behind everyone else. Most of the time, I don't really care. I usually end up marathon-ing shows I haven't seen for some time for whatever reason anyway...or even waiting for the DVD to come out and then just making a weekend of it...or something. LOST, however, is not that way.
The problem is, I know way too many people who actually watch LOST. So when I'm a day behind I have to put my fingers in my ears and go "la la la la la" because trust me, you need to actually discuss LOST with someone otherwise you'll go crazy.
I don't torrent, fyi, but I do wait for it to be posted on the ~interwebs~. And it generally is up around midnight. Which would be great but I want to be 100% awake for watching LOST. That is to say that I wait until the following evening (ie now) to watch the show in it's entirety. Throughout the day I combat those who want to talk to me about it (many of whom I have gotten hooked) and tell them "let's talk Friday". Unfortunately, in doing so, it tends to be around a pool table at a bar because my life just rolls that way. And you really can't pass up free nachos and three drinks for the price of one.
Now that I've explained this rather lackluster story...let's talk about LOST.
I've been watching LOST regularly since it first started. There was some time in there that my interest dwindled but LOST has been a part of my life since it first aired even if it meant watching it much later than everyone else. In my defense, that season didn't start out that strong anyway. However, this season has started off with a healthy dose of "WTF".
First of all, what's with the time travel? I have a hard enough time keeping track of the five billion characters and jumpy plot lines to begin with. So naturally we must include some time travel because, let's face it, the polar bear in the jungle just wasn't enough what-the-fuckery.
Widmore (aka Mr. I-Was-On-The-OC) you continue to confuse me too. I'm starting to wonder if you're a good guy or a bad guy (the line is so blurred!). I'm excited that you were on the island before we were introduced to the island (although technically, we wouldn't have been introduced to the island yet because, frankly, we're talking time travel and in the fifties I wasn't even a twinkle in my mothers eye and color television so didn't happen but I'm so taking this much more seriously than I should...whew).
In other news, I think girl-with-the-gun is Ms. Hawking aka Faraday's mom. I'm really shooting the shit though so I could be wrong. However, his recognition of her looking like someone else but, as is my nature, I really have no clue. Additionally, it does concern me that Widmore and Ms. Hawking knew each other. But then, it makes sense that he would have funded Faraday's research. SEE! SEE WHAT LOST DOES, I can't even formulate a sentence anymore. At least not a very good one.
Was it me or was the island sunnier and prettier in the fifties? It may have been me.
Also, if we're talking time travel anyway, why even worry about the bomb? It clearly isn't going to blow up the island because they still exist. Though people apparently can still die so I guess that might be a concern. But really, obviously they're going to be okay. I'd say I was over-thinking this but with LOST I don't think that's a possibility.
Random: I was really, really, giddy when they were speaking in Latin. I could explain this but it would really just make me dorkier than I already appear.
Random part two: Why am I strangely attracted to Faraday? And why is it becoming more apparent the more he appears on the screen? Nerdy guys, Jen? Really? Additionally, does it make me heartless that I didn't care when his "love" died? Yeah? Okay. I'll accept that. (I will also not dignify her with a name. I dislike her that much.)
Random part three: Desmond is making.it.happen. this episode. And I think you know what I mean.
Okay, back to talking about the actual episode. I'm pretty sure that Richard is immortal or something. Maybe he's an android. Inventor of botox? Something. He ain't right though, that's for sure.
If this show hurts Desmond and Penny I may have to cut someone. Of all the pairings on this show, I like this one. Let's allow this one to work okay? Okay?
In conclusion, well played show. I just spent 41 minutes of my life going "OMG WHAT" and didn't actually really learn anything except that Widmore was an other. Well played.
