the truck is is currently in goodland kansas, scheduled for dispatch in an hour to cheyenne, on it's way to salt lake city. and then i assume on to SF.
this has been an incredible whirlwind of a week, but the end is in sight. mac still maintains that we could've packed the whole house on saturday when he got back from taking the boards in chicago. i still maintain that he must be on crack.
going away party was saturday night - our friends all chipped in and got us a gift card to ikea! shopping spree!!! and my former co-workers got us a family membership to SF MOMA. i must send thank you notes ASAP.
we managed to fit all of our belongings (minus the stuff we ditched/unloaded on our friends at the last minute - tools, a ladder, speakers, glass bricks+boards=cd shelves, plants, bookshelves) into 16 ft on the trailer, thus saving us $200ish. i took a picture - floor to ceiling packed in there. but the card reader is packed. oops. so you'll have to wait til i can find it again. god help us if everything shifts in transit. got the house cleaned up and handed over the keys to ted and jackie. cried. took the cats to the vet and decided to board them for the rest of the week at mac's mom's suggestion. the best suggestion anyone's made in a long time! still working out how exactly they're getting to SF - definitely flying but still some details to be worked out. petrelocation.com wants $800 to fly them. ack! i can put them in cargo on midwest airlines myself for $145 but if it's over 85 degrees at the time of dropoff, they don't fly. and then what do i do with them since i'll be getting on a plane an hour later myself. i lean towards letting them run free to fend for themselves ;)
got new checks ordered/address changed, got the car into the shop, dropped off stuff at goodwill, had lunch with beck, had coffee with the registrars, saw pinkpunk who gave us the coolest going away present (thanks!!!!), had bbq for dinner, and now i'm pooped. i can't wait to escape this heat. i think it's bedtime now.
