this has been a most excellent weekend thus far. hot, but excellent. friday morning, i biked the boys down to jamison square to play in the fountain and have a picnic, followed by an ice cream treat at cool moon. both boys took naps that afternoon (as did i), trying to stay cool inside in the dark. friday night, i biked up to acadia, an upscale ( Read more... )

oh man, it was awesome. insane. there were 72,000 people there and it was hot, but it was worth it. i think it was pretty much his standard stump speech, but he was clearly wow'd by the turnout (and said it was the most spectacular setting for a rally yet). he didn't really say anything i hadn't heard before, but to hear it in person was great. and the bikes, oh the bikes. i've never seen so many bikes in one place before. there were bikes chained to every conceivable surface for blocks and blocks and blocks.

we somehow lucked out and skipped the 20 block long line to get in (which made me feel bad when i read about people who'd been waiting in line for 3 hours who didn't get in before he started talking)...we walked up to that line, and decided that we'd just hang on the periphery where we could hear, and headed with some other crowds towards the rally site, where we found them merging us with the "official" line, and boom, we were in. way at the back, of course, so he was tiny on the stage, but we were there. :)

afterwards, we biked back to jamison square for another cool moon ice cream treat, to kill some time before heading back over the bridge for home, rather than trying to cross with the bikes in the throngs of thousands doing the same. i think it was a wise idea.
