So I got off of work at 0700 this morning, and had to go work on a clients network to install a wireless router and hook up his laptop for wireless. 2 weeks ago I told him exactally what he needed to get and an exact URL to the product. Whats he do? oooh the d-link is cheeper, I can get it for $30, and PCMCIA or PCI? hell PCI is less letters I'll get that. *sighs*
So now I ended up with a D-link wireless router that can't get another antenna installed for better range, and a PCI wireless card for his laptop instead of a PCMCIA. Lucky for him I had a spare PCMCIA wireless card laying around the house. Got it all working, and instead of charging him for the card, I took the 802.11g wireless PCI card off of his hands.
Get home to install it on my 600mhz dell. Lo and behold, my PCI rev is 2.1 and the card requires 2.2. So I pull out my newer d-link card, and it requires a newer machine with pci rev 2.2. now I have 2 PCI nic cards that won't work in this linux box. Bleh Maybe I just need to upgrade machines
