Okay, hopefully one of the last political comments for a while. It always amuses me how left-wing the mass media likes to be, while trying to appear balanced. While watching the CBS morning show today, they played an "interview" with John Kerry, and I have to say it was quite sympathetic. Questions like "If there was one misconception about you that has been portrayed in all of the commercials that you would like to clear up, what would that be?" "You've come a long way from the 2-car caravan in Iowa haven't you!" COME ON! I've seen less sympathy than that in hospital rooms where people could really use some sympathy! The real kicker of the interview was at the end, they graciously said that even President Bush has declined an interview, even though he has been asked multiple times. I don't blame him! What kinds of questions do you think he would have gotten? "Mr. President, what do you have to say about the loss of jobs in America?" "Mr. President, why did you decide to remove Saddam Hussein from power?" I could go on, but I think you get the point. It's not the bias that annoys me - its their feeble attempt to conceal it! And more than that - they seem to be tricking millions of people around the world!
A little later in the broadcast I heard the following: "Well it looks like bad news for President Bush......................If you believe in a football game." Apparently, the last home game of the Red Skins has "determined" the outcome of the election since either 1936 or 1944. I put both dates because not 10 minutes before I heard the story on the tv, I read it on SLASHDOT! Okay, I have no problem with a story like this showing up on a geek "news" site online, but for crying out loud, does it really have ANY merit at all to put on national tv? Its another example of the blatant bias in the news media. I will say, that I appreciate the work by local channel 12, the CBS affiliate in Cincinnati, who aired the entire speech this morning by President Bush - the ONLY local news station to air the entire speech. I believe that they would have done the same for any candidate who was in town the day before the election, and I applaud them for that. I'm all for hearing all of a speech, if I agree or not (and, despite popular belief, there are things where I disagree with President Bush) - so I know all of what someone has to say.
Since this is my journal, I'll add a little biased comment on my own: The democratic party has done a wonderful job recruiting people to vote - so good of a job in fact that this year's voting will have to occur over 2 days: Republicans, independents, and 3rd parties voting on Tuesday, democrats voting on Wednesday!
