Sunday: Had an ubernice picanic with Mom, Dad and Mel to celebrate how uberly awesome my Mom is. That night, I had a phone interview with Lt Col Darin Ninness and C/Lt Col Sean Dobbs to see if I'm cool enough for a staff position at the Great Lakes Region (North) Encampment. They thought I cheated on the staff test, and I only got an 82. Yeah, that was one intense test!
Monday: State Department had to cancel the teleconference again. Something about "breaking news" that they had to respond to. Kinda like how we didn't get to meet Secretary Rice because she was in London at a conference to discuss Israel. You know, life and world events only slightly get in the way sometimes. :)
Tuesday: I went to the zoo! It was great! We saw lions, and eagles, and lemurs, and baby monkeys. We also are star sammiches. Peanut butter and jelly on white, cut out with a star-shaped cookie cutter. And I saw a gorilla beat its chest and run off. I was so excited I shouted, "DUDE! That was HARDCORE!" I also saw a big furry rat. Everyone else was disgusted, and I was like, "No way, man! Rats are awesome!" The only downer was that the zoo store didn't have any little rats or even mice. I was disappointed. But they're building an area for wolves, and the sign said that it would be coming Summer 2005, so maybe I can go back and see wolves before I leave for college.
Wednesday: Well, not much cool happened yesterday. Wednesday night we had a nice thunderstorm with a lot of rain. Wednesday is trash night, so I helped Dad with that. It was great. First, I ran out to the road carrying a bag of trash in my right paw as I held my pineapple cake (complete with cream cheese frosting!) in my left hand, and took bites as I went. And I was barefoot. By the time I got back up to the house, I was done eating, so I took out some cardboard left over from our brand new dish washer. I like rain. It's very wet. After that one backpacking trip, I couldn't even stand to take a long relaxing shower because it was simply more water falling on me after a weekend of the same, but now that was almost like a bonding experience with rain. I like rain. I'm sure I'll learn to hate it again in the fall, simply because everything will look depressing. But for now, I love it.
Thursday: Today I'll be doing all kinds of stuff to prepare for the Ohio Wing Encampment Staff Training Weekend. (
http://www.ohwg.cap.gov/OWE/cadetstaff.htm ... yay! for looking important!) I was on top of things and washed my BDUs yesterday, so today I just need to iron 'em, roll the sleeves, and I'll spend some quality time with my boots to make them look nicer than they already do. Gotta set the example, dontchyaknow. I'll also be tying up loose ends on my classes so I can ensure that I'm good to go for, you know, training the staff. Oh yeah, gotta look over the stuff for Pass In Review, too, so we can have that essentially hammered out before we practice it on Saturday.
Friday-Sunday: Staff Training Weekend! I'll also find out on Sunday whether or not I'm cool enough to serve on staff at GLR(N) Encampment, and if I am, what position I'll be serving in and who I'll be working with. We'll see how that goes.
Wednesday Addendum: How could I forget? I got my grades back. I pulled off two A's and an A-, which gives me a 3.9 for the semester. My cumulative college GPA is now 3.76, but don't forget that I did in a year what most college students do in a semester. I'm still uberhappy with it, though, because... well, I get my high school diploma in one week, two days and a wakeup. :) Actually, it totally freaked people out when they found out that one of their classmates (or students) was a high school kid...
Alrighty, you read part of what I have to do today. I'd better go get started on that.
