Glad to see a J body community! I got my ass flamed a few times for stickin up for them, but hey, gotta love em!
Names Rob.. I'm a 20 year dude from Warren MI, which is next to Detroit.
I came over to the J-Body crowd through interesting events...
I own a 1994 Chevy Cavalier 4 Door.
I bought it in 2004 for 150 bucks.
Told the engine was shot. Turned out all it needed was a lower radiator hose!
I used it as a winter beater even though it wasn't rusty and very clean.
To tell the truth I owned a Honda CRX which I put away for the winter to strip and rebuild.
During the winter both my friend and dad crashed my cavy but somehow it lived and a new fender hood and front bumper later was still serving its everyday driver duties.
Saved a ton of money over the winter thanks to the cavy's reliability
Put it on 15" Beretta GT rims lol!
Put a modest system in Xplod 52x4 head unit... pioneer 6x9's powered by Hi fonics channel.. Volvenhag 2000W two channel powering two Pioneer 12" Ts-W306 DVC's Sounded pretty nifty although I never dynomated so the rattle was pretty damn annoying.
Then I bought a z28. Sold the Cavalier to my buddy for 1500. Which was what I paid for the Z28. My honda sat on still as I kept the Chevy streak going.
Then some unfortunate events occured, no longer had a job, camaro started actin up, and somehow some way my buddy started having trouble with the cavy. So I traded him, and got another car and some dough outta the deal.
So after being a winter beater, getting sold, and getting its ass kicked pretty badly, I'm still daily driving my Cavalier!
I'm waitin' for better days, then I will likely either fix it up and keep it because it deserves some loyalty after all its been through, lol or I'm going to just drive her til she dies, which wont be anytime soon because that motor is a dog!
But when times get better I might pick up a 2 door and a 4 door of the third gen, and curiously a wagon of the 2nd gen.
I want to everyday drive the four door, have a manual tranny 3.4L swapped two door, and do the wagon up for system purposes, and plus just own one cuz everyone doesnt seem to like em too much and I love unique cars.
I've studied up pretty well on FWD Chevy's and have a good amount of 2nd gen experience mechanically, So I hope I can contribute to this community!
I will still be Deckin out the CRX, But hey I'm a Chevy/Honda guy. Interesting I know."
