Ah, rats! (take two)

Reis is going to be the fattest little ratty guy. She ALWAYS eats first! And seems to eat most! And she's much more sedentary than Lou (well, as sedentary as rats get, anyway...).

Lou is crackign me up. The food dish with the fresh food in it (this onion-y, keesh-like thingy I had tonight--they always get part of my dinner, to supliment their diet) is near the tunnel entrance (you know--the tunnel they have to go from one cage to the next?). So she's in the tunnel, and she comes running down, and instead of getting OUT of the tunnel she just stretches really far, puts her front paws on the edge of the food dish, and eats like that--one handed, because the other hand is bracing her body up! (Rats eat much like we do, if we didn't have utensils. *grins*)

She's a character. VERY smart (despite the fact that she never learned to press the *&% lever...). She escaped from her cage *4* times last night.

That's okay. Today I fixed it up so she can't escape again. Required me re-making the lid to the small cage, and attaching the tunnel slightly differently... *sighs* I think I may have to re-build the entire lid before I leave. She may just be smart enough to figure out the ONE weakness the lid has. (When I built it I figured, "The only rat I know of that could figure that out would have been Echo." But Lou showed me last night--I watched her escape, because I couldn't figure out how she was doing it, and I couldn't very well let her run around my room!--that she's probably as smart as Echo--she found a weakness I was sure wasn't there. She'll for sure find the weakness that I already know about!)

(Don't worry Dex--I'll make sure they can't escape before I hand them over to you. Promise. *grins really really innocently*)

ALso need to make them another tunnel to their littl hidey-hole. Was going to wait, but they've decided to make the litter box their bed. THey just toss out all the dirty litter, flinging it all over the cage. *sighs* Therefore, I'll have to actually get their hidey-hole set up, so they can use that instead of their litter box. Rassum frassum ratty guys... (They sure are cute. :))

No new news on Chex. Will know more tomorrow...
