I know someone who had one, and he was smart enough to ask for what he felt like eating from day to day. If he was smart enough for that, he was smart enough for other things.
African grays (arguably the smartest of the parrots) have the intelligence of a two to five year old, say the skeptics. Not skeptics say it's more like five to eight year old. *I* say that if they can learn to talk to us, but we can't learn to talk to them... ;)
This was very funny! People never give the larger birds the respect that they deserve! People really need to think about what they say in front of their birds. I know this from personal experience! LOL
But the fact that the bird was used as a witness in a court is a different matter. I am not sure how I feel about that part. Still..............way to go Bozo - he knows who treats him better! ^_^
*laughs* I know. I was like, "Wow, smart bird! ...wait, does this mean birds get to testify? Because somehow I don't think the bird cares about perjury..."

Someone should teach the DeGambos' parrot a new phrase:
