Not sure if I'm feeling more contented right now, or just too exhausted to be bothered by things.
Haven't been around as much on LJ or email lately, thanks to the company's new policy: apparently Webmail Is Evil -- though they have no complaints about personal mail through my work account -- and LJ is a tool of the devil. Apparently they feel I'll be a much more efficient employee if I'm feeling socially isolated and my morale is shot. Your basic personal web browsing, though, is officially kosher, so long as it's not on one of the "social networking sites" they're unhappy with. So I've taken to looking random things up in Wikipedia when I need a break.
I could understand the principle of the thing, except that I'm a living counterexample to the idea that socializing online equals unacceptable performance -- having an LJ or Gmail window sitting open in the background hadn't stopped me from having the highest bug clearance rate on the whole development team. Even if you adjust for the fact that I fixed a lot of the trivial localisation bugs, I've been highly productive and no one's been able to fault my work. But no, we can't have me thinking I've proved myself a bit, can we?
(Hi, Adrian! No, I'm not blaming you as the bearer of bad news, you can relax.)
