Well, it's been two long weeks of going to and from Biloxi. After purchasing a house, we had to go back to Biloxi to sell our house (a real nightmare, cause we didn't want to go back, lol) and get our moving taken care of. But all of that living in a travel trailer and hard work has finally paid off, since it is coming to an end (yay!). We are currently living in Ashland, MO, which is 15 mins from Columbia, Missouri. Ashland is in the country, and a I mean it too. Our neighbors are farmers, and we live in the forrests, which is really beautiful, may I add. Before I get into our house and moving and stuff, I'm going to apologize to my friends that I probably won't get to AIM them, ever.. :( We're on a really crappy dialup connection, a connection that's so bad, it kicks me every three minutes or so, so I can't even download the AIM program, period, without the connection beign reset (which is BS!!). Maybe, if we get satellite internet, I'll be able to, but it looks unlikely. I would also like to say that our prayers are with you all on the Gulf Coast. Hurricane Dennis is fast approaching, and it's even more powerful than Ivan, but even worse, Biloxi may be on the east side of the hurricane, which means flooding. I feel really guilty, because I should be down there evacuating and running for my life - I don't feel I deserve the safety we're getting from moving up here.
Anyways, now that that's off my chest... I'll continue by describing Columbia (since Ashland's pop. is 1400, there isn't much to say about it :) ). Columbia has that small town feel to it, but has all of the conviniences of Las Vegas. I can go to Best Buy and Circuit City, and all kinds of nice resteraunts. It's the size of Gulfport, Biloxi, and Ocean Springs combined, which is not too big or small - just right! The land up here is far more beautiful than I imagined it would be. Hills roll every where, with lush, green forests (it looks like Northern Mississippi with Rainforest plants added to it - throw in more hills and some caves, and you have Mid Missouri!), and our house sits on a hill.
Our house is 4100 sq feet in size, which is very big. Keep in mind though, that only 2800 of that sq feet is livable, the rest is garage space, and partially finished parts of the basement, which make for fine work areas and exercise rooms. Our house is two stories, with the top floor being the main floor with a huge living room, a nice kitchen, and best of all, an outside patio covered with Grade A bug netting with a ceiling fan. The whole house is wired with CAT 5 cabling, meaning that when we get satellite broadband, the house can be networked, kind of like the school's internet connection! Downstairs is another Kitchen with a refrig, my basement room, and the Entertainment room. Hopefully, when we get broadband, I will send you all some pics of the house, as they are worth a thousand words!!
What I like about this place is the peace and quiet. If I go out on the lawn, I cannot see my nearest neighbor, nor can I hear any traffic or noise, or anything!! Best of all, the house sits on 5 acres of land (1.5 acres are actual grass and lawn, while the rest is forrest. Oh and something about country living, we have no cable or DSL, only phone and electric, our propane comes from a huge tank out yonder in the yard's wooded areas, we have well water, and NO SEWAGE!!! All of our waste goes to a lagoon ( I don't know why everyone calls it that). The lagoon is a fenced off sewage dump area that looks like a pond with light-green water. Ours is located in the wooded area of the lot, and it does not stink, nor is it as gross as it sounds it is. In fact, when I was like two feet away, it did not smell at all, and it's very natural. Though we lack broadband internet, I'm excited about our Voom Satellite TV - finally after having a HDTV for so long and not ever seeing a HDTV picture, I can finally watch some High Definition on something other than my computers!
Other than that, I've been exercising as much as I can, so I can get into better shape. I'm definately practicing my instrument all the time, and July 28, I go to meet my teacher, who is assistant Viola professor at MU. In short, we love it here, and as much as I'm going to regret saying this, I'm glad we moved out here - I have been waiting so long to escape Biloxi, and I'm finally gone! That's nothing against the people I met, of course. I love you all too, but I had to get out. I hope to hear from you guys soon! And please be safe from the Hurricane!
