Damn, it's been forever!

Hello all,

Sorry for not updating at all for the past three (?) months or so, but my life has been so fast and enjoyable that I forgot to update the live journal. So many things have gone on that I don't know where to begin, and I've had lots of fun over these past months! No longer is the state of depression hanging over me, and no longer do I long for anyone - I feel so liberated! High School is almost over - my last day is next Thursday, and I'm going to work over the summer (where, I don't know yet, but I'll see in the coming weeks). I'll be going to MU for college - it has a good music program, and a top-notch facility for everything imaginable. Over spring break, in April, I went to Hattiesburg, MS, to meet the viola teacher and such, and I was impressed, but in the long run (they were going to pay my whole way through college), I decided that I would go to MU. Mississippi's a closed chapter in my life, and I moved away for a reason - a reason that I'm sure that I'll be aware of once I get established in college. I'm also excited for college because this will be the first time that I'll have gone to one school for more than two years. Yep, that's right folks, I've never attended a school for more than two years at a time... I was about to in Biloxi, and we all know how that ended. :)

What to talk about? Hmm... In March, I went to the National String Teacher Association and performed there - in front of teachers and artists from around the nation and world! It was scary as hell, but I played well, and in the end it was a great experience - a scary one, but a great experience nonetheless. I also completed my eagle project, and I am waiting for my board of review - then I'll be an eagle scout! We also had a school musical, and I played viola in the orchestra pit - the only string player. People loved it - I was surprised, and I loved the fact that everyone started pronouncing the word "viola" correctly instead of "Vi (as in violin) ola." We played "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," and yeah, the singing sucked, but we musicians did a pretty good job. The oboe player and I improvised a lot of stuff together - the viola and the oboe make one hell of a duet together!

Today, I went to the store to buy some drinks for myself, and my dad told me to get him some tobacco, because I'm now 18. When I got the tobacco, this old bitch starts giving me a lecture on how tobacco is a nasty habit, and if she had it her way, she wouldn't sell it to me, even if I was 18. Finally, after a few minutes of ranting, I said "Lady, it's not for me - my dad sent me to get this." And she just stared... God, I hate it when people do this!! Well, if you all can see this, and you haven't deleted me off of your friends list, then drop me a line. I'd love to hear from you all. :)

EDIT: What's the weather like in Biloxi? It's really weird here - today the high was 70, and next week, the temperature will get back into the 40s... in May!! Oh well, it feels very nice, but I think the summer will be a scortcher!

Till next time,

Michael Wilson
