Let's see, big news in the world of Jeff for the person who still reads this.
I am presently seeing a really great girl. I care about her a lot. I'm very serious about her. I don't want to gush so I'm just gonna leave it at that.
I was recently offered a full time job by the company I work for. They haven't given me the details yet, so I haven't said yes, but they did approach me and they've seen the quality of work I offer. I have my standards and I'm not afraid to say no. But why, you ask? Doesn't Jeff need money for college?
Yes, yes he does. But my Aunt and Uncle have graciously decided to help me with my college expenses. It's a loan, but it's very generous and I think if I take them up on it, I'll be done with undergrad in a year and a half (maybe two years if the schedule doesn't work). But that's not all folks.
I have also been pointed toward a graduate degree in the field of Instructional Design. Don't feel bad if you don't know what that is, until a year and a half ago, I didn't either. Basically, it's the idea of perfecting adult education and training. Which these days means using technology so solve the issues facing companies and educators to deliver messages in the most efficient way possible. "But, Jeff," you might say if you were the imaginary person in my head, "why would you want to learn that?
The purpose of my studies will be to bridge the gap between education and games. When I was a kid, I used to play Troggle Trouble and Oregon Trail. Those games were cute and fun, and surprisingly enough, I actually learned a couple things from them. But as I grew older, those games became less satisfying and I moved on to other things. With the latest technology, one can immerse themselves even further into video games than ever before. I think that using creative story telling and clever game play we can teach practical skills in easy to understand games that will appeal to an older audience.
But that is a future I cannot yet be a part of. For the time being, I'm working on searching for a house near Mason. I'm very interested in purchasing something nearby. I've done some number crunching, and I think it will be possible if I find the right combination of cost and roommates, I should be able to afford a 4 bedroom in the area, along the bus route. Nothing is firm yet, but it is a plan I'm very serious about investigating that could net me some very VERY interesting results.
That is my life right now. Cool things could be on the rise if I'm lucky and I've got some neat plans that I'd love to see work out.
