Alice's secret - one of them at least :)ext_3749980July 18 2016, 21:25:35 UTC
I've mostly neglected my WIP over the past two weeks while on vacation. I've been jotting little snippets here and there but I'm glad to have the prompt to get going again. Not sure if I will use this but definitely helped me get to know my character better and what she might keep secret.
Alice’s belly flip-flopped as she stared at the ceiling from her top bunk. Tiny pricks covered the back of her neck and she could feel her palms start to sweat. Had anyone seen her? She knew her parents would figure out it was her surprise, how could they not? As long as her brother and sister didn’t know, that’s what mattered. They needed to believe in something and the Easter Bunny was as good as anything. Alice couldn’t wait to see the looks on Nate and Tallulah’s faces when they saw their baskets. It was a good thing she kept her room a “place of squalor” as her mother always said. Otherwise they would have seen her secret projects over the last week. Alice just hoped her parents wouldn’t be embarrassed that their oldest daughter took care of everyone. They were doing the best they could and sometimes putting together dinner was challenging.
