I don't know how much longer I can keep playing Castlevania CoD. I'm waiting for the 15th to roll around so I can finally get some really good games. Dragon Quest VIII, Wild Arms: Alter Code F, and Smackdown vs RAW 2006 all come out. Been a long time since a decent RPG rolled around.
I have around 18 hours logged in for CoD so far. The only thing I'm doing right now is hunting for materials, which means endless killing of specific enemies. I'm also leveling different Innocent Devils to see which abilities work the best. It's nothing too fun, but it's something to do. I should probably beat the game so I can check out the other modes though.
Unfortunately, Dragon Quest seemed virtually unchanged from ALL the previous versions. It still sports the archaic turn-based battle system that the first Dragon Warrior used.
The Wild Arms game is a remake of the first Wild Arms game. Luckily, that one was the best out of the 3 Wild Arms games. I couldn't play the first one again anyways. I mean, the game was good, but the way games were rendered on the PSX was just fucking terrible. If anyone played The Granstream Saga, you'd understand. Basically, that game had no facial features. There was nothing on every character's faces, even the main character. Take a clay ball, shape it into a head, and plop it down. Put some hair down. There, you've just made an exact replica of The Granstream Saga's character faces. Aside from the crappy blockiness of the characters, the music was great, the story was solid, and the characters each had unique attacks. I'm hoping they have added a lot of extras.
Smackdown vs RAW 2006 looks to be the new WWF No Mercy. If you played any of the N64 wrestling games, you'd know how much everyone loved those games. They still serve as a benchmark for wrestling games today. That's how amazing they were and still are. Create-a-wrestler is back, you can even be a GM in this game and manage your own rosters, just like the coaching mode for the Madden games. You can trade wrestlers back and forth from the two brands. They've added lots more matches, while still brining back all the old matches. Season mode is still available. They retooled the Stamina and now have a momentum feature added in. If you continue to do the same move over and over again (which just about everyone of us abused vs a cpu) the opponent will start to gain momentum and can turn the tide the longer you cheese one move. They further diversified the sections for the types of moves you can do to better create your favorite wrestler's movelist.
