It's been a busy couple of months...I've been traveling a lot with work...I started off in Baltimore, then hit New Jersey, then Chicago last week. I was supposed to go to Houston in September but I'll be on my cruise to Bermuda that week so I had to opt out of the work trip. Newark was great. We flew into NJ early on Monday then took a car into NYC and hung out there all day. I saw my first broadway musical, Avenue Q, along with Hairspray. Both shows were incredible but Hairspray was my favorite. I booked a later flight home the next day and took a train into Red Bank to visit Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash, the comic book store that Kevin Smith owns. I was so hoping to meet Kevin (his birthday was that week so he was in town to celebrate with an 80's Prom party which he sold tickets to for $200 a piece) but he wasn't there. The store is really cool and I picked up two signed comics, several posters and a sweet statue of Medusa, my favorite Inhuman. Airport security wasn't as fond of the statue as I was, however. Apparently, they were concerned it may be an explosive so after being detained for 20 minutes, and after my purse was given a proper swabbing, that statue was cleared and I was able to head to my gate. Funny stuff.
I basically spent the weekend resting and reading comics. I need to clean my apartment and do laundry so that is my project for tonight and tomorrow (I'm off work).
On a more personal note, my dad is getting married next Monday. For the most part, I'm OK...yet, on some level, it bugs me. I've tried to imagine how it will feel to see my dad marry someone other than my mom. I guess I'll find out when the time comes. But, I'll be the supportive daughter, I'll wish them well then I may go home and throw up. Maybe it won't bother me as much as I think it will. We'll see...
I saw Stardust last night and I really enjoyed it. I haven't read the book so I don't know how well they kept to the original story but I would recommend the movie to all who like love stories, witches and magic. Good stuff.
Work is calling so I'll leave you with a picture of me with Trekkie monster...
