JAIL BREAK!!!!!!

Sep 23, 2008 12:24

Today Raz escaped! I stuck his leash in the ground and made sure that it was in tightly and left Raz to munch on some new tasty grass =D! He seemed to be enjoying himself and he didn't even whimper when I left him, so I didn't think anything of it when I didn't hear him crying all through breakfast and devotions. I had a good breakfast of eggs but the coffee left something to be desired, so I was only half awake after breakfast and a little slow on the uptake, lol =P. When I went out to get some equipment for the bees I noticed something quite strange . . . no white mass of buck in the field where he should be. Thinking he had just been lying down I went over to his water bucket and retraced my steps back to where the post he was tied to used to be. No post. No leash. No buck. O.O

Glancing around the farm I could see absolutely no signs of him. Usually the goats come when you yell, "Hey goat!" But Raz even comes when you say his name =P. So here I am, jogging around the garden, screaming my head off- "Raz! RAAAAAZ!!! Hey goat! Where'd ya go boy? RASPUTIIIIIIIIIN!!!!" Not even a bleat (from Raz . . . the dry goats made sure to let me know that they heard me, lol o_O) in response. I was afraid that in his search for one of the interns (or a girlfriend o_O ) that he had wandered onto Business-77 or into the trailer park across the street. D=

I decided to check on the dairy goat herd because he appeared interested in Phoebe the other day and perhaps their unrequited love drove him to this jail break. =P I saw the dairy herd clustered around the fence for their pasture staring at me while I walked toward them. This is unusual because I had just opened up fresh pasture for them yesterday and normally they would be in the thick of it munching on fresh greens. So thinking they must have been greeting Raz at the entrance to the pasture I called for him again while walking toward the girls. Then I called I heard a little whimpering bleat behind me.

"Mmmmbaaaa." Turning around I saw nothing, so I called again. "MmmmBAAAAAAAAAAA!!! BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The calls started sounding a bit frantic and they were coming from behind the dairy. I ran toward the calls and there stood Raz still attached to his leash still attached to the post . . . inside the pen where the dairy goats usually stay at night. Right beside the pen where he lives. The poor guy must have dragged the post the whole way back behind him in search of his friends! D=

On the way back to the pasture you could tell that he was a little traumatized. He kept looking behind him and walking as slowly as he could. With a little coaxing and tons of chin-scratching I got him back to the pasture with no problems =). I turned the fence post around so that it sticks in the ground deeper than when I had it the other way. So far he's been content to watch the other interns harvest in the garden and munch on his new grass. =D Hopefully the post will hold this time, lol!
