At 4:00 PM, January 19th, 2007, 12 Competitors from 6 Countries entered the Mansion Park Olympic Living Room Stadium to compete for the much desired Mansion Gold Medal. Each country marched into the stadium wearing colors of their native countries and while hearing their national anthems being played in the background. Team Canada entered the stadium to "Return to Innocence" by Enigma. The Federated States of Micronesia marched in to "The Imperial March" conducted by John Williams. Team Kazakhstan marched with their album "Kazakhstan is the Greatest." The Vatican City entered with their anthem, "Hava Nagila" by Scooter, playing, and finally, Team Djibouti entered the stadium to "Sex Bomb" by Tom Jones. Togo also entered in, but to no national anthem. Each came with the glow of sportsmanship and competition in their faces. Each wanting to win. Each wanting to make Olympic history. The ceremony came to a close, as the Mansion Park 7 Olympic Torch was lit, for the true burning of competition...or something.
As the competitors mingled, our first event was set up, Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture 2. The event started with Team Vatican City, making the first move on the board, but little did they know, that their first move would not amount to much. As game play continued, questions were answered, and wedges were won. The game climaxed after the loss of our first competitor, Margaret from Team Federated States of Micronesia, due to a prior engagement, which left her teammate Booger all alone to complete the game, and bring glory back to the states of Micronesia. Under the radar, Team Canada was the first to collect all 6 wedges and return to the center for the coveted yet difficult, "For the Win" Questions. Next to collect all wedges was Team Djibouti. It was now a head to head competition between Canada and Djibouti for Olympic Gold. Team Canada hit the center space few times, but the DVD was not good to them and delivered them very tough questions. Team Djibouti, on the other hand, landed on the center space once and took home Olympic Gold. Although, Canada's spirits were down, they kept up the fight. Soon, both Kazakhstan and The Federated States of Micronesia had compiled all 6 wedges and were also going for the Silver along with Canada. With more than half of the wedges still needed, victory for Team Togo and Team Vatican City looked dismal. Still, Canada was struggling to get a decent question, when The Federated States of Micronesia, followed suit with Team Djibouti and landed on the center square and took home the Silver Medal. As the event hit the four hour mark, the Olympic Committee decided it best that a Head to Head "For the Win" competition was in order to decide the Victor between Team Canada, now only one member left, and Team Kazakhstan, with all members intact. The head-to-head began with favor leaning back and forth from country to country, but in the end, Canada had gotten what it had worked for so hard in this event, an Olympic Medallion.
