As promised in
this post, we're officially opening, as of today, our very FIRST ICON SHOWDOWN BATTLE!
Here is the list of participants so far:
aerianya alyburns ankareebanbury janedavitt luna_61 sallymn snailbones This is a great turn-out and thank you to all who have signed up! Now for the rules!
SHOWDOWN RULES
1. We have provided the bases for you, meaning we chose the caps, have sized them to the required 100x100 and have cropped them. You can, of course, make a base smaller to create your icon, you can reverse the image, etc. The only thing you can NOT do is alter the crop itself! All bases are under the cut.
2. You must turn in one - and only one - icon for every base provided (which is why you have two weeks to complete the Showdown)
3. All icons must be submitted by midnight (your time) on March 12th to THIS post. All comments will be screened. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them via this post only. If you have not yet signed up - and decide you'd like to give it a try, please reply to THIS post ONLY. Just remember, the longer you wait to decide, the fewer days you have to complete the icons. No matter when you join, all icons are still due on March 12th.
4. The only technique not allowed in creating your icons is animation (simply because many folks don't have the necessary program).
5. This has been said, but it bears repeating: The base has already been cropped for you - you can NOT change it!
Remember, the idea of a Showdown is that all participants are working with the exact same base, the exact same crop. It's what each participant does with bases that results in the Showdown. We each bring our own techniques and imagination to this challenge!
6. On March 13th, we'll post the icons alongside the original base, and yes, we'll then allow all members, watchers and participants to vote for their favorite icon in each base category.
7. Very often, during Icon Showdowns, participants are paired off, but for this, our first Showdown Challenge, we're keeping it as simple as possible. All participants will have the same two (2) Blair bases to work with, the same two (2) Jim bases and the same two (2) Jim & Blair bases to work with - for a total of six (6) icons to be completed in the two week period.
8. Submit in this format: Save your icons to an image-hosting site like
Photobucket, which provide the appropriate links. In Photobucket, for example, you'd use the 'direct link' with code you see provided in the box below followed by simply pasting the direct link by itself, directly beneath the photo as seen below. To make things more simple for newbies, you can copy and paste the coding in the box below, replace "URL OF IMAGE" with the direct link provided by Photobucket and then replace my link of this Blair with your direct link again.
