a fortress moves through water
it looms from behind rocks
and steers west into infinity
thousands of cliched metaphors
bounce off my tongue
the soft sinking ground
feels good on my feet
and all i can hear is peace
i could stay here forever
this place and this moment
its painless to think
but why even bother
when you can live in a painting
i don't take photographs
i don't need a physical memory
we can hold these images in our mind
without the use of technology
this place is a prison
that you can never leave
images stay in your mind
serving a life sentence
maximum security holds them inside
when you get on your plane
and leave them behind
but i could stay here forever
this place and this moment
its painless to think
but why even bother
when you can live in a painting
i don't take photographs
i don't need a physical memory
we can hold these images in our mind
without the use of technology
