A wrap up, get it? At least I crack myself up.
Since it's been a while since posting, I'll start out with a little update. Work looks to be getting better, finally getting away from support and on to some of the new development. Even though it's really refactoring old stuff, it's essentially all new. I do need a good book on Spring though, any ideas?
We also got a 360 to compliment the Wii. Live Arcade is pretty neat. The only games we've got right now are Table Tennis and Lego Star Wars 2. As you might guess, my gamertag is jazzyfox. If you're going to add me, please put a note of who you are!
Last weekend Ash's parents came up to visit on their way to Georgia. It was fun driving them around, taking them to some of the places we like to eat. I was horribly embarrassed by the hour spent killing time in a Barnes & Noble in Arlington, since I really misjudged the timing of our trip to Fort Worth to see the gardens. However, no one seemed too put off (but I still feel really bad). The dinner with my family went well. Ash's mom isn't the kind to not tell you what she thinks, so when she said she had a good time I am sure everyone liked each other.
Last year was my first Christmas away from my family, and this year was Ash's. I tried to make it really nice for her, and I think that overall she enjoyed it. The rather frantic tearing into of gifts was disappointing to her, but we tried to slow down and at least see what other people were getting, and have appropriate thank-yous said.
Speaking of gifts, Ash got me this most wonderful rice cooker ever, it's the induction heating Zojirushi that does everything you'd want from oatmeal to brown to sushi to white rice. Along with that was Elite Beat Agents and a fast food cookbook that looks real fun. And of course the stocking, which was really great. She got me a little fishtank for work that plugs into USB.
My big gift for Ash, the Kläppe chair from Ikea, was given earlier in the month so it could start helping her back out. I filled things out on Christmas with Waiting for Guffman, a couple books she's been looking for, and Elebits. We were sad that a second nunchuk would keep us from enjoying Elebits together, but from what we've heard the multiplayer is less than stellar. Thankfully she liked the stocking I put together for her, it was the first time I'd tried to do one. Since it was first Christmas alone, I tried to put some things in that would make her think of home, like a toothbrush, some lottery tickets, and candy.
Unfortunately, Ash doesn't have this week off work, but I do. I'm going to try to use the time to get some things done around the apartment as well as get us both some good honor for leet epicz. I want to make an Ikea run to pick up the entertainment center we want, but that's going to require help. Any takers? It's only a little heavy lifting...
