I just spent the last hour chasing a two and a half year old around my Aunt Tracy's backyard. Brendan, her grandson (my cousin Chris's son) is over there during the day while his parents are working and so Mom, Gina, Karla and I decided that it would be fun to go and visit. That is an adorable child. Also mischievous. He decided that it would be fun to try and hit Karla with his little car. Then he decided it was too hard to try and hit her while driving the car and so it would be better to get behind the car and push it around then try to hit her that way. So I decided to encourage it. I got up and walked right around near the two of them. Brendan looked at Karla, looked at me, and then he got this look, y'know, like the one in Veggie Tales Rack, Shack and Benny that Bob gets just before he turns the faucet on Larry in the bottom of the sink. Where the eyes narrow and the entire expression just smacks of mischief. Then he turns the car on me. Of course, I was expecting this, so I stood calmly in front of the car, then jumped neatly aside just as he was coming near me. He absolutely loved this, so he chased Karla and I around in similar fashion for quite awhile. Luckily, we were fast and agile enough to get out of the way. Then we started picking him up and playing with him. We were playing airplane. However, I think based on the fact that Gina and I managed to do this accidentally, that he thinks airplane is when we each pick him up by one arm and one leg, then flip him over! He thought it was great. He'd have one set of two of us do it, then turn to another set (the three of us were standing in a circle around him, Gina, Karla, and I) and say, "you can do it!" in his little two-year-old voice. Wayyyyy too much fun. I think we need to take that kid to the zoo. :D
Anyhow, we've had a fairly busy household since yesterday afternoon. We told Aunt Kandi that we'd take her three girls (Amanda, Gina and Karla) plus Ryan, Amanda's boyfriend, for as long as they wanted to stay. Aunt Kandi dubiously asked, "What do you wanna do that for?" but all the girls were up for it, so we got them and Ryan yesterday. Had a blast at the Village, where I exulted over a wonderful little discovery down by the covered bridge pond and plan to share with others later. :) Made and ate lasagna. (Yum, Mom hasn't done that in forever!) Said goodbye to Amanda and then Watched Karla and Gina steal Matt's screen name off my buddy list and proceed to IM him, then I added to the confusion by calling him. Made a good breakfast. Well, actually, I slept through it, then ate it when I woke up at the wonderfully happy hour of 9:00 a.m. Watched game shows and all painted our toenails bright pink. And then the thing with Brendan. And now I'm going to go play Mario Tennis with Karla! :) It's kinda nice to be home... :p
