At what point does a person decide to cast fate to the wind, say screw the consequences - be it lost friendships, broken hearts, or a happily ever after ending - and finally put your own desire for happiness in front of your sense of morals and ethics?

Within reason, I think you should always put your own desire for happiness above all else.

I guess the key word is "potentially." It's hard to give a good opinion about what you should do when I know so little of the facts. Care to share? :)

Not on LJ, given that ALL of the parties who are in anyway involved in the innermost part of the problem, are also on LJ. But yeah, I'd love to have someone to talk to about it...
