I'm getting my iud changed today. I'm changing to the expensive one to hopefully help my extremely painful periods. The appointment came up kinda fast, and I'm not prepared and a bit nervous. This doctor is going to use an anasthetic, but I'm still nervous. Have to tell myself that the aftermath will be no worse than my period would be a week

If you do decide to go for it, give yourself the rest of the day to recover just in case.
As far as having an IUD - it's been the best kind of birth control I've been on. No pills, I still have an obvious cycle of moods and libido and hunger and introspection...which I love - it connects me to the different layers and levels of my self. I was previously on the copper IUD, and my doctor said that these symptoms won't go away, although my period might, and the cramps will definitely be less. However, I've also been told it could take 6 months for my cycle to balance out..I will give you a personal account in a few months and let you know.
