Thanks everyone. :)

We'd been talking about it for a while, but me being someone who likes surprises, I kept pretty quiet about it. Given that summer is generally "slow" in the PC business, the last few minutes I've been moaning about not taking a paycheque, just barely being able to scrape by... the whole time putting away a bit every few weeks into a fund to get the ring. Needless to say, Guin wasn't expecting this to happen now since things are still pretty crazy with the business (but really, they'll always be). Step one of plan, check.

Decided I would ask her sometime over the last 2 weeks, arranged to get the ring, and was just waiting for the right time. I'm not one for crazy public displays, had a few ideas, but I chose to be more quiet and private. Some old high school friends of mine were getting together at the Toad for beers on saturday, invited us, so I asked her if she wanted to go. She didn't really know any of them, which meant having to tug a bit, so I said "I'll take you out for supper on saturday!" Still no clue. Saturday comes along, i'm going nuts, and she thinks we're going out for supper still. My mom comes by and cleans the shop on weekends, and guin calls and assumes I'm going to be late as usual because I'm talking to my mom. Step two, check.

At this point, I know she has no clue, so it's a matter of going home and asking her... waiting for the right time... come home to find her all beautied up (not that she could be, she's beautiful all the time!) to go out for supper, sitting on the couch watching cartoons. Knowing this is the best opportunity for me to catch her off guard (she HATES when i babble when she's watching tv, doesn't everyone), I waited for the right point. Heart rate is going nuts, trying to stop hands from shaking. I don't remember how I led into it, probably about 10 minutes later or so though, conversation just slipped into a spot where i could find an opening, popped the question... tears galore. :)

Obviously we didn't end up going out for supper, a couple friends stopped by and we ordered chinese, then went out for a bit, then had the rest of the weekend to tell the parents and start telling friends. It's been exciting in alot of ways, strange how it seems to solidify a relationship that much more and total change how you look at things overnight, with your feelings stronger than ever.

Don't have a date yet, but we're planning on having the ceremony out at my moms place in St Andrews... backyard is 2 acres, nicely landscaped with a pool area, large deck area, an almost pagoda like structure near the pool that is surrounded by a pond/waterfall setting, really beautiful. Sometime in Spring/Summer 05. Social TBA. Don't worry, I'll be posting that info when I have it. :)

Thanks all for the kind words... I think I'm still in shock that so many people all over have been so excited about it. :)
