I WILL BE MOVING TO LAS VEGAS WITHIN THE YEAR. I'M SHOOTING FOR MAY.

now for another survey thingy, stolen from jared, and modified for quality control:

1) 3 favorite bands of all time:
bill evans, thelonious monk, they might be giants

2) worst bands of all time:
NKOTB, journey, um... so many choices here. britney spears? kris kross? another badd creation?

3) name a song thats made you cry:
daniel, by elton john. i hate that song.

4) your most memorable break up song :
rondeau by mouret (you know it as the masterpiece theater theme)

5) last song you slow danced to:
god, it's been so long since i slowdanced, i can't even remember.

6) song that makes you want to bite someone's throat out and drink their blood:
eep! um. none of the above. i really just don't get that emotion, so what such a song would induce in me is "running away from people who want to bite someone's throat out and drink their blood".

7) a band who was too ahead of their time:
stetsasonic.

8) a CD you don't like to admit to owning:
enya -- watermark and shepherd moons, both on cassette. although i will defend the songs "na laetha geal moige" and "smaointe" to the death, as they are masterpieces.
also the carpenters' the siingles (1969-1973). i've got this whole love/hate thing with the carpenters. don't ask.

9) what does phil from pantera feel?:
who??? how should i know? why should i care?

10) best makeout song:
the entire album kind of blue by miles davis. maybe skipping "freddie freeloader," as red garland's piano playing is a little bit of a mood-killer.

11) First song you had sex to:
hm. you'll have to forgive me if i wasn't exactly focused on that. perhaps i shoulda been payin' more attention.

12) justin timberlake: yay or gay? : why? :
i really have no opinion on this man. i never listened to him when he was with n*sync, to be sure, and i haven't listened to him since. although with all the critics salivating over that solo album of his, i wanna check it out. also, -500 cool points for being involved with that whole janet jackson thing.

13) First real tape or cd you ever got:
"shakin' down the acorns, volume 2" -- tony elman

14) favorite lyric from a song:
i've got about 100 favorite lyrics, but right now i'm gonna give props to glade:
"i've seen a dozen faces that would / blow these fakes away / fuck you up with the things that they're doin' / but you wouldn't know their name" -- "it's a shame," glade, canary

15) who just needs to give it up ?
i'm with jared here: metallica.

16) first show or concert ever attended:
billy joel, circa 1986 or 87.

17) THE MARS VOLTA:
don't know what the question is.
haven't heard 'em yet.
but they've had more than their share of tragedy. fate should leave 'em the fuck alone.

18) name a band you liked "before they got big":
can i say me? glade? badapple? do they have to be big already? *shrug* depending on how you define big, that's either nobody or a whole buttload of people. probably my best bet for this one is grand buffet, though. they're safely in that middle range. they're opening for sage francis here tomorrow night, and this'll be the 3rd time i've seen 'em.
oh wait... i'm gonna say kanye west here. not because of any of his solo stuff, but because of some of the production work he's done for talib kweli ("guerrilla monsoon rap" etc.) and he samples, which i totally appreciate.

19) why does [insert a band here] kick so much ass?
aesop rock kicks so much ass because he has a ridiculously huge vocabulary and a killer flow and the ability to be both completely obscure and totally bluntly straightforward, often within the same sentence. i like blockhead's beats better, though. bazooka tooth was really good, but mostly it served to remind me how amazing labor days was. is.
this question was originally about Queens Of The Stone Age -- i could care less.

20) battle of the white boys!! Beastie Boys "License To Ill" or Eminem "The Slim Shady" lp
neither. beastie boys ill communication, brother ali shadows on the sun, el-p fantastic damage, and the aforementioned aesop rock labor days. also, sparkle classic by the aforementioned grand buffet. and hell, even i flow better than license to ill.

21) danzig, samhian or the misfits
bleah. next.

22) best radiohead era:
i'm no big radiohead fanatic, but i'ma say kid a. i'd probably say ok computer too, but for various reasons that have nothing to do with the music, i cannot be in the same room as that album when it's playing.
