I'm definitely sure he's going to an acting workshop. The thing about actual TV actors these days is a great number of them do not back themselves up with significant training, which makes their acting wooden. But I know the ones who really care will sign up for classes to work on their skills, and that'd be what he will and should do since he seems passionate about it as well. Katharine McPhee is the only "Idol" alumni who's got a successful TV gig with her lead role on "Smash" because she did theater studies as well and worked towards her goal, and she still gets to make music albums. On the male side, I can see him doing a decent job if he follows in her footsteps.
The CW itself is in the bottom of the barrel in comparison to the big networks, so obviously it has a long way to go to build its reputation. The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Nikita and Arrow are favored by critics though. Recently, I've been getting into more ABC Family shows (in addition to ABC) and I get their appeal. "Pretty Little Liars" has really picked up, so I'm glad I didn't give up when I almost did :)
About "Idol", I agree with you 100% 'cause that's exactly what I'm going to do. I saw the premiere of S4 of "The Voice" and it's got more interesting singers showing up. The thing about "Idol" is it's now forcing everything on us that we are subject to the producers' manipulation. For the first time since I first saw "Idol" in S7, this is the most extreme they've gone so I'm no longer glued in. The ratings are down since the show is alienating the current demographics who actually dig guys with guitars. They are messing with the market, so bye-bye "Idol". I'm only going to tune in to see who it comes down to in the finale (and to see Paul back and rock the stage).
Yes, I also felt like Mariah has always been encouraging - it looked like she was the one who wanted to save him even though it's very obvious they're going to use the save on a girl. I'm no longer upset - I'm very happy to follow his career from now on. Hope you enjoy the interview :)
