So first of all, you should all be going to see the
Charm City Roller Girls battle the Long Island Roller Rebels, this Sunday evening (6pm) at Putty Hill Skateland. Reasons? Here you go:
1. Women's flat track roller derby is inherently awesome. If you somehow didn't learn this
last year during the entire first season of CCRG bouting, now you know. Come, see, and understand. Both the Baltimore Sun and the City Paper have picked this bout as what you should do this weekend. You might not always agree with these fine publications, but trust us, with regards to Roller Derby, they know of what they write.
2. This bout is CCRG's chance to win its first
WFTDA victory and contribute to their national rankings. But it's also Long Island's first chance to do the same. This = Serious Play.
3. The theme of the bout is 80's metal, with music and big hair by band extraordinaire Fair Warning. Not to be missed.
4. You can also win prizes by displaying your own 80's metal awesominity. Two words: costume contest. Two more words: Bring it. Here's another word: spandex.
5. Three more words: Guitar. Hero. Contest. Up on the big big screen. And yet more prizes.
6. International exposure: BBC America is filming the bout for a program they are doing on American roller derby. So you can help us look even better to the world at large.
7. An amazing afterparty. Where? you ask. Well, you have to come to the bout to find out, don't you?
