through the viewfinder colour is not usually of interest
the geometry, tonality, composition and focus of that isolated moment
are the things that consume the eye
but then there are those rare times when colour does garner attention
that terre rouge of the midwest
but it is not that over-saturated consumer driven digital colour
it's the colour of aged kodachrome that doesn't obscure detail with pigment
my preference still goes to stripping away the colour
leaving the essence of form and tone to guide the eye without distraction
free to examine that cloistered moment in time
the thing that could even cause Paul Simon to change his lyric
