Nekkid planner speak...

Jul 11, 2013 23:16

I'm doing something I haven't done in quite some time-

I'm updating nekkid.

I used to do this a lot. It seems as though the new house, since it's two floors, does not lend itself to much nekkid time. Or maybe it's better ventilated so I don't have to be as nekkid as I once was? However, I knew it had been a minute since I had written so dolled myself up in my best shower dress and hat and toddled into the office.

Kayrin and Otter Bucket's wedding went beautifully, despite the fact that it was a billion degrees in the theatre. Their dresses were pretty, they were beautiful, and the attention to detail was superb. I didn't fall in my ridiculous heels and my speech was well-received. It would have been better if my parents could have attended, so I had a brief ten minutes of depression seeing Otter Bucket dance with her father.

Then I got over myself and danced the Cupid Shuffle.

I know Smurf is now ramping up to finish her wedding details, so the bright side? I should be out of wedding-planning mode in three months! I doubt I'll really have too much to do with Mimosa's wedding. She, too, is getting married in October. She is uber cognizant of the grad school requirements and is just happy that I can try to show up, which makes her awesome, but also makes me want to help more.

Side note: The highlight of today? I BOUGHT A NEW PLANNER! Well, technically my friends did since I used some of the gift cards that I got for my birthday, but I purchased a new lunch bag since mine is horribly dying and a NEW PLANNER! And it's purple and awesome. And as I was looking at it, I realized I didn't want the weekly layout because I had stopped writing since Fidget and I had started dating. But then I realized I was going back to school! I would need the weekly pages for assignments!

I appreciate that I am way too excited about a $12 planner. But I do know that this new planner will eventually join its many brethern. *counts* I think this would be number #15 in the set? And I have some leave coming up at the end of the month, so I can sit down with my planners, new and old, and copy all the birthdays and (new) anniversaries, and then bundle up the old one to leave it with its cousins.

Then, years down the line, I'll need something out of the 2012-2013 planner (like when Metal Darts proposed to Smurf? Or when Otter Bucket married Kayrin? Or how when my cousin had his baby?) and I'll search through the memories to find what I need. Then I'll bundle it back up with the glittery eye patch that Otter Bucket bought me for 30th birthday pirate cruise and put it back with the others.

/end side note

Sadly, I think I might be getting a Franken-hand again. I think it's the tick, how I unconsciously flick my thumb against my middle finger. My left hand seized up and hurt so immensely last night that Fidget had to help me cook. I think it's just me needing to be more aware of the tick. I've noticed that since I've been protecting my left hand, now I'm starting to flick my right.

It's possible I'll have to cut all of my nails off, which would be dramatic and sad. But if I can't get this tick under control, I don't know what else to do. The best explanation I have is that it's fallout stress from the wedding; now that it's over, I'm exhibiting stressful signs.

Good news is that my left hand is dramatically better than yesterday, and I was even able to lift tonight when doing exercise, so this is a good sign.

It sounds petty, but I really don't want to cut my nails. But I know, as a counselor, that if I mentally can't avoid the temptation, then I need to physically remove it...

... they'll grow back anyway, right?
