Otter Bucket's birthday, aka Jessie doesn't know Philly...

May 31, 2010 17:36

I have been relaxing most of the day. While I did indeed go to the bar Saturday night, it was uneventful, despite many plannings for the upcoming Epic Partay of Epic Drinking. I did do a lot of talking with Septum, and Riff Raff didn't come in, so win. Due to the holiday weekend, the bar was a LOT emptier than usual, which was just as well. It gave me some time to think what I needed to do to plan for the Epic Partay of Epic Drinking. More folks are now expected to come into Six-Foot-Three, along with them coming earlier than I had planned. I now need to work on cleaning my house real quick-like before nine people sleep in my itty bitty apartment.

Apartment 6 could accommodate such numbers. I'm hoping Six-Foot-Three will be able to as well.

Somehow, I ended up in my bed Saturday night, though I don't remember how. After I got home from Bad Decisions, I remember smoking a cigarette on my couch. Somehow, I got a phone call in my bed at 1240 the next day. It was Kayrin calling, asking where I was.

I was in bed; I had a fail trying to get to the birthday partay.

After there was fail involving the Delaware Toll (there was traffic for DAYS), I finally got to Camden for the roller skating partay we had been reminiscent of since we had been teenagers. I was excited that they rented roller blades, as I cannot roller skate to save my life. As soon as I stood on the blades, I promptly fell on my ass, seeing as the shoes were too big. After we got them readjusted, which was interesting using my Franken-hand, we skated around a lot, started sweating too much, and danced like it was 1998. It was awesome, and I didn't fall again so win!

Afterwards, we gallivanted to eat some dinner, where Otter Bucket got a birthday stick of cotton candy since the place we were in didn't have cake. (What sort of place doesn't have cake?) We ate too much crabby items, leaving me to feel somewhat shady since I live in Baltimore. Though Hunny couldn't come to the roller rink, she and JonBenet drove down from the Valley and he got to meet all of us in a single loop.

Poor, poor guy.

After dinner, Kayrin looked at me and said, "You know your way back from here, right?"

And in my stupidity, I said, "Yes."

Kayrin then turned to Bluejay and said, "Jessie knows her way home, so you follow her and we'll all meet up at the apartment?" She then handed me her house keys.

It was decided that Kayrin and Otter Bucket would go to South Philly for another car, while I drove the other half of the caravan, with Bluejay following, back to their apartment, and we would wait up and have a good time.

I should preempt all of this by saying that Jessie does not know her way around Philly. Jessie knows how to get to South Philly by way of 76. Jessie knows how to get to Kayrin and Otter Bucket's apartment by way of 95 North getting to 476. Jessie, however, does not know much else.

However, Jessie thought she did, and off we went, Trips with me in Onyx and Bluejay and Caterpillar following us.

Heading south on 95, I figured this wasn't the Right Way. Trips was having arguments with Gigi, and we looped back onto 95 to take 76 through Central Philly, where I was like, "Noooooo. Bad idea." We were heading back to the Valley; I was supposed to go to Lansdowne!

Somehow, Gigi led us through West Philadelphia. We almost hit a cat, then a biker almost hit us. We drove over old trolley tracks while Trips prayed to baby Jesus. We had lots of arguments with Gigi. A man in the middle of the street offered us free incense, and then asked if we wanted to buy a glow-stick necklace.

I have never been so happy to see the light globes around this complex when we came up the back of the hill. We drove around for an HOUR.

Jessie does not know Philly, kthnx. I live in Baltimore, and I know that city. This one, notsomuch.

We hung out, Bluejay reading excepts from the Pooh Planner, and eating cupcakes decorated like spaghetti and meatballs and/or mashed potatoes. Eventually, everyone else went home, we dressed up the comfy couch for me to sleep, and I had really strange dreams.

I woke up around 0650 because my phone thought I needed to be at work, then I woke up again around 0930 with Otter Bucket leaving. I flopped around for a bit, then decided it was much too early to wake up Kayrin on our day off, and tried to get myself to fall back asleep.

Which I accomplished very well, as I was re-awakened around noon, poking Kayrin in the side with my foot. Both of us are hurting, and I apparently have a hickey-size bruise on my ass from my fall, but I am otherwise unscathed. My knees are actually doing phenomenally, though I realized yesterday had been the first time I had been blading since my knee injuries in 1997. So it was an adventure. Kayrin fell a bit more than me, and she's hurting, but otherwise, we survived. We then hunkered down for some Wii, as Kayrin and I had been talking about finishing Super Mario Brothers to be the Epic Gamers of Epic Ability. We brushed up on our skills, me trying to adjust with the Franken-hand. We took a quick break, got some Five Guys, and then came back to settle down and finish the last fail level of the game.

We got all the coins. We beat all the castles. We had one stupid level, which we each threw about thirty lives at. It was stupid and full of ice, and there are fire plants and Jesus, I cursed a lot. Finally, we flew through the level, landed on the flag, and eagerly high-fived each other. We had done it! We beat the final level! We were Awesome Gamers of Awesome!

The Wii told us we beat all the levels, then awarded us with a Mushroom House. And then it was done.

It was very anti-climatic.

So, in typical Jessie-and-Kayrin fashion, we got bored, turned it off, and entertained ourselves with other means. We had been talking about the build-up for so long, thinking we would at least be awarded with some sort of digital fireworks. But no, here's your Mushroom House, good job, kthnx.

In further celebration of Otter Bucket's birthday, we will be heading to Fogo de Chao to partake in a meat coma. It will be awesome and nommy, and hopefully, I will still be able to drive to Baltimore afterwards.

There needs to be planning on how to feed ten people, where am I putting ten people, and how we are going to be transported to the bar so that we can get our drink on. I am über excited about what is going to transpire, but I have three days to clean, make sure I have food, and that my air conditioners work. And do some laundry. And vacuum. And wash towels. And possibly buy toilet paper...

... oh, June, how epic you're going to be!

birthday 2010, kayrin, bad decisions, gigi, friends
