i am feeling so energized by the welcoming attitude at guilderland - but especially by the perspectives of the administrators and fellow teachers who were there today to talk about what kind of building it is and offer ten different kinds of help. it is not a competitive place or a building where teachers don't share or collaborate with each other. we even get paid to collaborate and they allocate forty minutes a day for us to to collaborate with anyone else in the building. and i know from having the same supervisor when i student taught here that it is never about administrators saying GOTCHA! and telling you what you suck at but that they always try to help you be the best that you can be. that sounds cheesy to the max but it is amazing to see how much they believe in their teachers and how much freedom they give them. they paid me over 200 dollars a day every day this week and bought me books so that i could talk about cooperative learning and meet other teachers in the district.
ps if anyone wants to see the dark knight this weekend, i think you should buy tickets to the xfiles movie and sneak into the dark knight because the juggernaut that is batman should not stomp on my hopes and dreams and opportunities for future xfiles movies. batman doens't need any more profits. sincerely, a dork.
