Where am I?

Nov 19, 2008 03:21

Adrift in a vast and turbulent sea of New England. I never really thought I'd come to a day where I'd look at the gray blue skies and the golden sunsets, and the rolling hills of this land... and want to leave it.

I want to leave it, only so I can return, I know. It's strange. I want for this place to be fresh. I want to enjoy the bite of the cold like I once did, or the sweltering oppression of a New England summer. With the noise, and the bustle, and the tiny giant spaces. I want to miss this place, and I don't think I can if I stay.

So that's where I am. Working a job which is only mildly satisfying now, now that the novelty has worn off. If anything, it's refined the wanderlust. Because I can taste what the clients feast.

Or maybe it's just the encroaching New England winter driving me to a state of perturbance and distrust, and the obvious solution is avoidance. There are days where I feel old, but more than old. I feel stagnant.

I'm three months away from my one year. And I'm one month away from sending out my Masters applications. Maybe I should look outside of New England. Maybe I should stop being afraid of what I might find out there.

Maybe I just miss being crazy.

Hello, people who still have me on their friends lists! I spend 8 hours a day surfing the web, while occasionally helping people. That is why I've slowly developed a distaste for personal computing. Especially ones with the internet. I feel like I've lived up to my obligations here. My mother is healthy, and will be moving soon. Albeit, to be closer to me... But it gets my sister out of the Northeast Kingdom, and to a place where there are people. Emily needs people a lot more than Mom or I ever did. But isn't that the way of things? Just when I'm feeling the call of the high road... Or maybe this is all just noise in the wind. I guess only time will tell.

Madness.
