As Huxley fairly noticed a totalitarian society can be based not on violence, Special Forces control, punishment, but on the stimulation, comfort conditions creation and mind enslavement. The more comfortable it's for man the happier man is. Need absence calms down. Learnt rules and schemes of behavior guarantee the predictable further developments. The training of spiritual qualities is inferior and not obligatory condition of existence. What does a man need? - convenient house, favorite pursuit, tidiness, sex, entertainments, health and ability to purchase the necessary things. Having created of the world where there is all of it one can control it easier than with help of violence. And if something breaks down in that world there is an opportunity to mend a failure quickly.
In the new brave world the system stifles spiritual and enthusiastic wishes as useless. What for these wishes are if there is an artificial substitute of calmness and happiness sense - soma. You take one tablet of soma and that's all - man gets a condition of inner harmony and light euphoria.
Only smartest people can catch the essence of this mechanism. But the subsequent action may be an exile to some island beyond the civilization.
So, here is the description of new brave world:
- Hatch of people, i.e. absence of natural breeding. As a result all people are like siblings (i.e. all are equal to each other) in every social caste.
- Education on subconscious level - it’s called ‘fertilizing’
- Certain division of people into the social castes in which there were made the conditions for feeling the own significance and happiness on appropriate level
- The absence of families as cells of society; propaganda of free relations and unaffection to somebody
- Submission to social interests
- Pang and grief liquidation
- Conveyer industry and availability of goods for all
- Advanced infrastructure
- Strict hierarchy of society management
- Dissent is impossible and no need
If you don’t need to think this world is for you.
A man from ghetto (his name is John Savage) gets into the new world and can’t accept its rules because the world doesn’t offer the choice to him. He wants to love only one girl but this is not typical here. He wants to watch the classic movies and read the world literature masterpieces, to see the paintings and listen to the music, but art have turned into the consumer product suited only for time spending, not for spiritual food getting. The highest castes understand this, but it’s impossible to change the system because nobody wants to change the conditions of their existence. Revolution is impossible. Supposed end of a story of the new world hero is death of man who came from outside. So it happens like this. Absence of choice breeds the sense of hell the exit from which is suicide. That is the only choice.
