Since I told her about my impending divorce, my mom has decided that she has to check for me more often. Offering to send me things I could easily buy here. Forwarding me recipes. On Skype, declaring my apartment a mess. And every now and again, sending me litle pick me ups, sometimes in ALL CAPS. Usually a sentence or two about that she loves me and things will get better, mixed in with an admonishment to get my God on.
So I get an email from her yesterday, and it's pretty long by her standards. In it, she tells me that I have a "bright future" and that what's past is past. Oh, and to ask God to help. She ends it by telling me she loves me very much.
So I jump on Skype and call them, mainly to get Dad's analysis of my alma mater's football game out the way. (He stopped watching early and wasn't aware of the comeback.) Mom got on,and we talked some about other things. Had a 10 minute convo and done.
So I don't quit Skype and proceed to do other things, and she calls back.
"Stay like you are. Don't change for nobody."
I almost cried. Almost.
