From Bashful to Brazen: The Indescreet Breasfeeder's Manifesto

That's a great article, and here's the manifesto.

  • I will bare my breast with pride and confidence.
  • I will not apologize for nourishing and nurturing my child.

I have never heard of the hooter hider. Might have come in handy I guess in some situations but honestly...I never felt embarassed about feeding my babies what was best for them. I was so grateful to have healthy children, especially at my age...and I enjoyed every minute of the time (ok maybe except those middle of the night feedings where I'd had no sleep and wished Bill had lactating boobs..hehe) they were nursing and it ended way too soon, especially the second time since I knew that Olivia was the last baby I'd nurse.
As for that eye contact while nursing...it's one of the best things in the world. I miss it...but there are other things that make me happy now...and Olivia still gets in my lap and snuggles with me even at 5 years old...so it's all good. :)
Here she is when she was a wee one. :)

That's an awesome picture of Olivia. Those eyes!!

I have this one, which I took on my phone (which is why it's so dark). I'm going to try to get some better ones one of these days.

I really only use it to preserve the modesty of other people. After giving birth, and my gastric bypass experience (hanging out for the world to see, both times), I really have none left. I'm proud to feed my daughter when she needs it, and refuse to be closeted away at home all the time, but I also don't want to make anyone else uncomfortable. Non-confrontational, I guess. But even with the cover, it's still obvious what I'm doing. I think that's part of why I like it. :)
