I have been trying to decide if I bleach my hair if it will all snap off or fall out, it's so thin from the PCOS, I don't want to risk it... but my roots are so bad I have worn a hat for weeks!
My hair is really, really thin. I have PCOS, and thyroid issues, and am post-gastric bypass (thin hair's a side-effect of that, too), so you can imagine. I've been dying for a long time, both lighter and darker, with no problems as far as breakage. We (my stylist gives me really great advice) usually go just a bit darker than my natural color (this is several shades darker), because the light shades really show my scalp a lot. AS for bleaching, I'd say get the advice of your stylist if you have a regular one, or several if you don't. They can probably tell you how to lighten it back gradually, without too much damage. I never did see it black, and I remain curious. ;)
See and I am light blonde naturally... but when my roots grow out even the slightest bit, I look horrible. Maybe I will go a bit darker, but not DARK like I have been!

Good luck with whatever you decide.
