I love the Gathering of Allies™ so much, no matter what the fandom. It is one of my favorite, I don't know, plot devices(?), it deserves a id/title (and a tag).

Thank you and I agree! Too much hate, everyone needs to chillax as they say.
...Because like in Supernatural fandom, I think a lot of people think they have a say in where the story tellers decide to take the story, expecting them to keep up with and meet all of there particular fan-expectations for the story and characters. At least subconsciously I think they do...And sure, TPTB may listen, but its their story, we should be glad to hear/read/see it. And it is just a story.

exactly. and in this case, it's Meyer's sandbox, she sets the rules. and you're right, the fans think they can tell the authors what to write.
i wrote a Supernatural AU where i did... something (which made it AU), and in one of the fics, i got a comment saying something to the effect of "cool idea, but *I* wouldn't do it that way"... i SO wanted to tell her to write her own then.
