In this article by Kristin, Neal McDonough plays off the Cain-DG chemistry as paternal-platonic...I will once agree with Kristin when she said this, "As for Cain-DG, um, la-la-la, we can't hear you." It was romantic chemistry and I won't be convinced otherwise!

Also in her poll, she asks:
Which two are the best comparisons to Cain& DG?
a. Han and Leia (Romantic)
b. Young Obi-Wan and Padme (paternal-platonic)
c. Cain & DG? Please. I'm rooting for Cain & Glitch

As funny and awesome as option C is (and believe me, they are definitely my secondary ship, I mutliship like that), I obviously wasn't go to choose that one. Which leaves options A & B. And I think I know why I can't see Cain & DG in that father-daughter role. You see...in the Star Wars prequels, I shipped Obi-Wan Kenobi/Padme Amidala. ObiDala for life?  x___x So, yeah...*rips hair out*

But, my God, can we get back  to the statement by Neal now? I hate that. And also I think that he maybe wasn't interpreting right? (Or trying to throw us off the trail!) One that co-creator, Van Sickle said there was chemistry there and they way Kristin asked, you know it was of the romantic variety. Also, in the show DG already has two (2) father figures, she doesn't need another one! She does need someone to sex up! CAIN. Sure, one's a robot and taht seems to be ignored a third of the way through and the other she doesn't discover until Part 3...2 data points is not a pattern, but in my head the fact that she loves her dads but that they aren't/weren't always around and she doesn't always need them to be is a characteristic of the DG dad's...Cain has been there almost the entire way through. Now that I think of it, both her dad's were captured by Azkadellia, another place where Cain varies...technically he was never captured by Az. Also both times DG gets locked away, first in the tower and the in the tomb, Caiin comes to saves her. (And both times DG has managed to initially free herself [mostly, yes Toto definitely helped] but that doesn't stop them from have different, but equally great hugs...).

I don't know if any of that made any sense.

Whatever. *waves Cain/DG high and proudly* It's a little lot sad how invested I have gotten in this...

ETA: This article has a great heading pic with DG, Raw, Glitch, and Cain. Mostly because Cain is lounging on the forest floor. *swoon* Thank you, Kristin, for that.

movie: star wars, pairing: cain/dg, tv: tin man, unconventional pairings, shippiness, obsessive much?, pairing: obi-wan/padme
