the window shades drawn
her eyes peek outside to see what's going on

the kids are all laughing
the lawn is overgrown
her mother has left her all alone

her hair is tangled
she holds her head and really tries
so no one will see her watery eyes

a young child in such despair
what a sad story

Life is just not fair
