its been a long time but i'm finally settled in my new apartment. I now live in Davenport, IA. It took us two days with 12-13 hours of driving each day to get here. Basically took the 54 up to Wichita then switched from the 50 to the 35 to Kansas city then up to Des Moines and east to where I'm at now.
I started two weeks ago at my job on the arsenal in rock island. its nice but there are some feelings that right now i'm still just doing busy work until they find something more "engineering like" to place me in. I work with the Department of Defense so I'm not too sure how much I can really state. But for the most part I work with making the battlefield tools & equipment for the army and some stuff for the marines.
My boyfriend came up with me and we found a cute one bedroom apartment about 5-10 mins away from my work. I get to be a lucky person to cross the Mississippi river every day. We've been together now for almost 4 months on the 15. Its been kinda hard for me to adjust to 1. having a bf in such a long time and 2. having him live with me. we've had our moments but for the most part which is 90% of the time its still great. Its funny because here most people would prefer to work early to get out to enjoy the rest of the day. I myself figured I would like to do that as well and so I go into work at about 630am till 4pm. every two weeks i get a day off so I'm happy.
we haven't done much but stay inside (partly because I dont get paid till the last half of next month for ONLY 2 weeks!) and because we're still trying to adjust to everything.
although last week we did go with a friend to Milwaukee, WI and then to Crystal Lake a few miles outside of Chicago. We went to the lake and then hung out and enjoyed everything. i want to go out this weekend since its labor day, but apparently i'm going to need new tires as well since it was a 1400 mi drive up here.
i know i'll figure something out and financially i will be well in about 2 months or so. this is just a lil bump in the road that already seems to be clearing up.
i occassionally get a lil homesick but i know its for the best and well i'm not completely alone.
