each time i read from the Tao feels like drawing nourishment form a spiritual well. so many things to learn. 81 short poems literally contain everything you need to know.

knowledge is a physical function of brain.
wisdom/insight is a function of spirit.

therefore when we are reborn we retain our wisdom and insight instinctually, deep in our hearts. but knowledge is stored in brain cells, and dies with the body. this is why we cant recall past manifestations. but the tao clearly says that the spirit is subtle energy that returns to the subtle origin and may remain there, or be transfered to those who connect with it according to the laws of energy response. so it is my feeling that rebirth is inevitable unless immortality has been reached.

life is a coupling of our subtle energy with vitality. when we die the vitality disperses but the subtle energy remains. this subtle energy is our own uncarved block (figurativly).

in reality we are not individuals but part of the whole Tao. the idea of self is an idea. uncountable numbers of atoms make up the universe, but the universe is itself whole. the idea of separation is a finite concept in a infinite universe. in reality everything is made of atoms that are together. so the idea of individual atoms ceases to even be important in the long run.

seeing all of these confusing concepts melt before my eyes makes me realize that the tao is right. when realizing the subtle truth of the universe, you realize that simplicity is not only essential to living correctly, but it is also the truth. erasing all dualities from the mind means that you can live in the truth of every moment.

"in the persuit of learning, everyday something is added. in the persuit of the Tao, everyday something is dropped"
