samurai culture greatly interests me. their world is spiritual without worrying about god or the consequences of their actions. instead, they realized the brutal nature of life and acted in harmony with it. compassionate killers. they had no obsession with the after life, but instead focused on living with purpose and dying with honor. i think this is the right way.
the reason they embraced death is because they felt that this was the essence of living with out pretension. if you truly believe that you can be struck down anytime, you will be more likely to do and say what you mean with conviction the first time. this is the essence of samurai- to strike without thinking becuase you already knew you were going to hours before. this is why meditation and soul searching is important. they believed all decisions should be made in the space of seven breaths, or else the matter in question would stagnate and failure would be inevitable. the quickest and most True way is the most correct, always.
a beautiful culture.
