I've tried both these self-invented mushroom recipes out on Keltman, recently. He can't decide which is more delicious. you could probably improve them by using oil/fat, and more traditional cooking methods, but i daren't ( I got really ill, after risking sauteed sprouts recently :( . i used extra virgin olive oil, thinking that would be safest ( Read more... )

I didn't know that about mushrooms either! I love them now, but j-t couldn't stand them as a kid and so never bothered to learn the proper ways of doing things with them.

Woot! I got a reply :)

now i'm hoping that somebody actually tries out some of my recipes (pretty proud of 'em lol)

I found out what Keltman didn't know when i caught him trying to be helpful - by running one of my beautiful big shrooms under the overchlorinated tap water (branch water to you ). *big sigh*

I like the sound of the chips. I can tolerate oil just fine, but I know it's not good for me. My favorite brand of crisps is Baked Lays which is basically really thin potato slices that are baked instead of deep fried and dusted with salt. Kind of like GF Pringles.

Ah yes! we have a similar thing in Britain. I used to eat them a lot, but had to stop for 2 reasons
1) since having all my teeth out, can't eat highly crunchy things
2) am now getting horrible reactions to nearly all processed foods- even when ingredients are otherwise OK . At least my diet is healthier for that...but at considerable cost in convenience :(

Oh I didn't realize you had to have your teeth out. That sucks. :/

Any idea what it is about the processing that gets you? Whatever weird chemicals they add as preservatives or something?
