Much overdue post about my trip to Idaho (2 months ago)

Ok, so I went to Boise a couple of months ago. I'm finally doing a blog about it, though not one as long as what I'd originally intended.

It was awesome to see Jim and David; I've missed them both very much. Just one week there didn't feel like enough. I hated the road trip there on account of the second half of the drive there being nothing but canyons and desert and the occasional farm or cow along the side of the road. That's pretty much the entire way between Winnemucca, NV and Boise, ID - 4 hours and over 200 miles of that and no cell service. Middle of nowhere. Luckily Tricia was good company the whole trip to and from and the kids did an amazing job of staying mostly well behaved both on the way there and on the way back.

The townspeople were extremely friendly and quite a few moved there from out of state. They have more IT businesses in town than one would think (HP, Dell, Micron, and a few others). My trip there was enjoyable enough that I'm giving serious consideration to moving out there in 3-5 years. The cost of living is affordable - $100k-$200k for a nice single story home. Boise itself is a decent sized place but there's not a whole lot of nightlife there and it just became legal to sell liquor on Sundays there (at least during part of the day). Yeah, lots of religious people, but I'm told it's not all that bad. Nothing like Utah, Jim says. Any way, I hope to visit there a few more times in the next couple years to be certain that moving out there is something I'd really want to do. I'd miss a lot lof people here but I think in some ways it'd be the best thing for me long term. Time will tell.
