Stompin' Tom Connors
RIP Stompin’ Tom Connors.
When we got Leela home from the hospital the NHL lockout was in full swing, so I had a playlist of hockey songs (yeah, there’s a lot), and of course “The Hockey Song” by Stompin’ Tom Connors was on the list, as it should be for any hockey fan, and I would often sing this song to Leela when she’d start to crank, and it seemed to chill her out, though I’m sure it wasn’t just the song… but I still sing it to her and she seems to still get a kick out of it. Anyway, that’s my quick Stompin’ Tom Connors story. As a hockey fan it wasn’t my first and won’t be my last encounter with the song. Thanks, Tom, for adding something special to the one sport I love entirely.
