i woke up this morning feeling the need to head out on an adventure. i like leaving a saturday open once a month or so to be spontaneous and follow my impulses. today was definately such a day.
i headed straight to zuma for a guilt-free bagel and americano and a long, deep, wonderful chat with my friend joel, then ran into several more friends and aquaintences and had lovely chats with every one of them.
around lunchtime i continued down the river into the city to pick up some food at my favorite natural foods hangout, and sitting right next to the entrance was an old, dear buddy from my ashram days who i haven't seen in ten years! it was really nice to see him again and spend a few hours catching up and making plans to get together for a hike and tea next week.
as i was leaving with my groceries i ran into sean, luke's closest friend who's staying with him. we had a good talk, finally-it's been tough to figure him out- and he said that luke had mentioned me every day last week and had planned to call me and come visit several times but never followed through. and they *still* don't have a phone, so i guess we'll have to rely on our esp. seems to be working so far. sean convinced me to just go right over to visit luke, and so i drove straight there, skipping my other stops before i could chicken out.
i walked in and shadow greeted me, so i called out for luke and woke him up from a nap. seems i wake *someone* up whenever i drop by...wow, i just remembered what he let slip the last time i saw him, about "waking up to amy, how nice". hm.
the conversation flowed for hours about our families, death, fear, relationships, the book i lent him, starting a shitake farm, gardening, our stomache issues, reality, conspiracies, and how much we like hanging out with each other. we went for a slow walk along the river and spied the stone stacks his neighbor has been building in the grass which were reminiscent of my favorite artist, andy goldsworthy. he had just finished 3 arches on a boulder in the river that i couldn't stop grinning over. then we sat on stumps at the edge of the field of wildflowers along the river and talked more about possibilities for the future, how we both wanted to live, and he even invited me to help him out on his land. i can't think of much i'd rather do.
the sun was setting and sean had returned by then and luke had promised to go with him to a party at the earthaven community, but i was cold and tired so i declined. but before i finally pulled myself away an hour later we shared a few really nice hugs that i sensed would have turned into more had sean not been lurking about impatiently- another aries, great ;) i snuck a subtle one on his neck anyway, sort-of-but-not-entirely accidental.
yeah. i think i better catch up on my sleep while i can.
