I read an interesting book called The Feminist Porn Book which is a collection of essays by various people - not just academics and activists but also performers + producers of porn. The book also covers a wide variety of sexualities/genders + includes black + Asian voices. It includes pieces by Buck Angel, April Flores, Candida Royalle, Nina Hartley and Susie Bright and more. It's very definitely a pro-pornography work but the writers show that there a wide variety of people involved in the making and consuming of pornography and try to show that there is more to it than the stereotypes peddled by the mass media. (It does concentrate predominantly on filmed pornography but then I think that's a plus as it feels like they've covered the subject thoroughly rather than trying to discuss too many things in one book). I'm still not 100% pro-pornography and although this book doesn't discuss a lot of the issues that are raised by anti-porn campaigners it does seek to demonstrate a diversity and give a voice to the individuals who are trying to change the industry.
