Got NME - it had a big feature on 1994 + all the things that happened in the year. (I can't believe it's 20 years ago but in some ways I can - it seems so distant now). They had a little bit on riot grrrl, Sonya Madan of Echobelly on Britpop (+ Shampoo even got a little mention) and My So-Called Life. And they had a feature on the best albums to come out that year which included Nick Cave's Let Love In, Hole's Live Through This and Manic Street Preachers The Holy Bible (which is still one of my all time favourite albums - I know, I'm a gloomy little fucker).

It makes me wonder tho' that all this increased coverage of the past/rock nostalgia by NME - isn't that a bit of an admission of defeat, that the present scene isn't giving them enough to work with? Or I suppose you could be charitable and say for example, 1994 is now 20 years ago so it's reasonable to assume a lot of ppl reading NME weren't even alive then/were very young so it's just giving them a heads up on what they missed.

Also got Instyle magazine which had an interview w/Damian Lewis and a feature on Hot Actors of 2014 which mentioned some of my favourites - Idris Elba, Jack O' Connell, Tuppence Middleton, Matt Smith, Juno Temple, Benedict Cumberbatch and Gillian Anderson. They also had a feature on hairbands that mentioned Alice in Wonderland (for the Alice band) and a pic of Clara Bow.

benedict cumberbatch, alice in wonderland, hole, damian lewis, shampoo, manic street preachers, clara bow, magazines, riot grrrl, nick cave
